Thunder glanced at Kurenai's question as he answered.
"Well, I don't want that to happen, but Stealth just hates me too much." Thunder said, shrugging. "I don't know why. I mean, how can someone whose trained to protect others have so much hatred?"

The struggle on the volcanic Isle could be felt all across the great planet Mobius. Tremors rumbled ove rthe lands.. the most powerful beings in all the universe were going toe to toe in the most epic battle, since the death of the original Robotnik at the hands of Sonic the Hedgehog. Scattered around the planet, the Vanguards of the Goddess and the Apostles of the Demon were waged in battles of their own.. some of words, some of physical means. The black storm that swirled over the island began to grow violent, red lightnig crackling out from the clouds, booming and echoing thunder.. a black rain fell, sizzling and hissing in the lava.
The Goddess stood poised in a defensive stance, readying herself for her brother's next strike. Syntaru, however, was standing eerily still, quiet, nary a twitch.. not even the heave of his black lungs drawing in the sulphur of the air could be seen. Then.. in a single moment.. the demon appeared behind his Holy sister, attempting to run her through with his claws. The Goddess barely managed to slip away, gaining three small but deep black marks along her side. Undeterred from her objective, however, she retalliated striking the beast with a bolt of energy to the abdomen and a swift kick to the jaw.
Staggaring for a scant second, the Demon lunged forward, a closed fist knocking the Goddess aways across the ash and sand. She quickly regained her step and dashed back at him, the demon flapping his massive wings and taking to the air, losing his sister in the black clouds overhead. But, ever vigillant, she followed suit, using a sparce ammount of energy to clear the clouds infront, acting as a fog lantern. But still, in the thick murk of ash, heat and sulphur she could not find him. She had reached the very center of the cloud, and still no sign.. then, from behind, she felt a sharp pain.. one of the demon's claws in her shoulder.
She turned to strike back and free herself, but he had vanished again, leaving the wound behind. She tried to heal herself quickly, but Syntaru struck again, from the side, disappearing again immediately after.. she had flown into a trap, from which there was no escape. Each strike to her form, would echo out to her Vanguards, but they would stand strong, serving their purpose, their lady.. serving their planet. Two of those Vanguards were en route to the island, ducking under the encroaching storm cloud, spying Paladin, Shade and the dark Shadow Queen..
"Well, there's a sight I had not expected to see, the Shadow Clone has rejoined his former master in battle.. come Ishillar, let us help our comrades.." said Aries, descending and touching down on just behind the Queen.
"I'm right behind you Aries.." said Ishillar, turning over in a spiral descend and touching down gracefully next to Aries.
The Demon's bride, Tala, was now surrounded by warriors of light. And speaking of warriors of light, the two holding the Shadow Walker, Andre, had no idea that the most vile and dread of Syntaru's Apostles was playing audience to the ephereal debate..
-By the sound of it, Demockstro is in turmoil with himself.. although, with him distracting the the Star Child.. I may just be able to do his job for him.. I might be more than a match for Naia and the other hapless Vanguards.. but Rayne.. (grrr) I would have to time it just right, activate the statue and then grab the Gem.. so again.. I wait..- Though Shae to himself..

The other warriors of light had been left behind to discuss or bicker while the black furred cat and the psionic hedgehog travelled through the long halls until they were out of sight and hopefully out of any hearing range. Her great green eyes were closed and she breathed in and out, the quiet sound being the only noise that the lovers made. Then it struck, a deep rumbling and a shaking of the entire building that knocked vases and statues off of pedestals and threatened to throw even the nýmble cat off balance. Her eyes open wide in shock and she hunkers down a bit lower to gain a bit better balance, looking around her in suprise and then letting her eyes focus upon Amon.
She was right to believe that something terrible happening and the complete lack o vangaurds or Goddess springing to the forefront to calm the fighters or give explanation threatened the wary cat's intuition and forced her mind to areas she would rather not concentrate upon. She frowns as another tremor hits and bits of ceiling drop to the floor beside her left foot. She looks up and upon seeing the large cracks forming on the ceiling she sighs and stands up straighter once more, reaching out to grasp Amon's arm gently.
"Explanations will have to wait I suppose- I believe our relationship troubles will be null and void if this place crashes about our heads... or if ..." Fear filters over her fine feline features and her eyes widen even more as the unthinkable truth goes through her mind. "I still know little of the battle we are in... but what I do know is still enough to make me afraid... what if Syntaru is..." she does not finish her sentence, not wanting to do so unless perhaps by some strange twist of fate what she says actually comes to fruition. She did not want to prophesy such a tragedy.
Her grasp tightens on the hedgehog's arm and she looks back towards where the group of unlikely heroes should still be standing, "We should get back and make sure everyone is okay and then get out of here before any harm can come to us by chance of building collapse..."
----
She was surrounded by those who called themselves Vangaurds of the Goddess, but she saw them for what they truly were - brainwashed minions of a God who had spent too much time in power and had thus become tainted by that same power. With each of Syntaru's successful attacks upon his sister, Tala could feel the pleasure that he felt... she could feel his divine power coursing through her even with the ward at her feet steadily entrapping the shadow powers that her Lord had gifted upon her.
The lemur's now fully red eyes glowed appreciatively and the eerie smile that played upon her face grew even wider, showing sharp white teeth. She called out to the deep shadowy depths, the tremors that ran through the moutain not even allowing for her to be knocked off balance or away from her goal. Her mind was focussed and more clear than ever before, she would not be distracted from doing what she now realized was the only right thing to do- she had to destroy them all. There would be none left to challenge her Lord, her King, when she was through- even though she knew that they would never stand a chance against him. Ýf they ran, should would follow and hunt them down, she would get her revenge upon all who served the Goddess.
The way was clearer now than it ever had been before and the truth of that was evident upon her face as the smile let her face and was replaced by the serene calm that was more natural to her visage. Tala called again to the shadows, feeling their answer in her very veins and she focussed her gaze upon each and every one of the vangaurds around her.
Or at least, that is what she seemed to be doing.
Her gaze was unnerving, making even the oldest of the vangaurds uncomfortable, and none were sure who was the first to realize that she was staring just beyond them. First Aries, the flickering lights of the flames around him created a dancing shadow at his feet - then Ishillar, the lemur giving each of the newcomers a once over before reaturning her attention to Paladin and Shade. Inky black forms reached out of the shadows at both Aries and Ishillar's feet, using the ground as leverage to help them come out from the very Void itself where they had been sent in punishment to be trapped for the evil sins that they had commited in their lives. Two Shadow Walkers, the most intelligent and deadly of shadow creatures, arose from the depths and stood face to face with their adversaries.
The one in front of Aries was the image of a tall kitsune, who in life had murderred countless mobians, torturing them for hours just to see how long he could keep them alive. Stopping and starting again as need dictated, not letting them - or the family members that had been forced to watch, pass out and miss the show. He also prided himself on being treachorous to those he had one the respect and trust of, playing with them and getting as close as possible beore finally making his move. Entire families had been destroyed by this Mobian before finally one of his attempts failed and the wealthy mobster he had befriended saw through his ploy and had the kitsune sent to 'swim wit the fishes'.
The other licked her shadowy beak in pleasure as she stared at Ishillar. In the black orbs that stood for her eyes a deep intelligence could be seen, something that was possessed even in life. A torturer and a murderer to be sure, but one who enjoyed playing with her prey and then feasting upon them even as their screams filled the air around her. Blood curdling screams and the weeping of children as their skin was torn off of their bodies provided a distinct pleasure to this bird who was finally hunted down and drawn and quarterred by a large group of professional hunters who had been sent to the task of destroying her and sending her to the void where she belonged. Even as she died she cursed those who drew out her very guts and it was said that if she had not been tied down that she probably would have feasted upon her own entrails just to spite those who had captured her.
Paladin, already weakened by his battles with the Queen had no shadow for her to use to call forth another from the void and neither did the wily Shade have a shadow of his own being of the shadow himself... but for them she had her own plan, though she could feel the shadow energy that she had grown so accustomed to, almost completely sapped from her body.

As he pondered the source of Stealth's aggressive attitude, he felt a strong shockwave go throughout the building. This made him feel a tremble in his heart, making him think about Goddess Aurora.
"Hey, has anyone seen Goddess Aurora lately?" Thunder asked.
He hadn't seen the goddess or her guardians ever since he was sent to stop Legion. This worried him to no end.

The drain on Paladin was too much, with Syntaru trapsing about the skies heither and yon taking gouges of energy out of his own source of power the deathog finally had to give in. The once wounded flesh charred from his bones, fur, quill, and clothing igniting like so much paper. The illusion of the living dispelled by the needed power that maintained it. The skeletal deathog stared back at the Shadow Queen, empty sockets of loveless and eye less holes boring right back into the vile one. The field had weakened more than enough to let Tala accomplish her sending into the dark to face the other vanguards but the wards still held her from leaving the Carbon Circle, come hell or high water the girl wasn't leaving the enchanted zone damn it!
"If I'm not mistaken, it would appear we're completely cut off from our back up, out gunned, and more importantly about to be squarely numbered."
"I'm thinking Shade, I'm thinking. But it's taking alot out of me just to keep her from breaking the damn enchantment let alone simply crushing me with Shadow Power. It may be nothing to you, but that darkness can certainly injure me in spite of my present form. We're running out of time and options, no more games, no more mercy. It's time we take Celestius Nova to it's full purpose!" May the light forgive, the dark fall, and Father understand. . .
The deathog stood his ground and got into a defensive stance. Sometimes in points of preasure the only thing you have left to sacrafice is yourself.

Stealth didnt say a word but headed back into the main hall walking swiftly away from the others. he rather chop off his unemntionables than hang around with an arogant hedgehog. "I swear that guy as an ego the size of a two ton."he growled as he clenched his right fist a dark aura forming from it. this caught the fox's atention and he looked down at it with a smirk."mmm intresting. Lets see waht this can do."He said as he pointed the darkness filled paw tword the table and black tendrels sprouted from the arua and lashed froawrd grabbing a chair in their dark grasp quickly crushed it in their dark graps."Hmmm usefull."the fox said with a chuckle
Simon just laughed. It was true his sensors and telsa gauntlets were offline, yet his robotic limbs and his plasma blades were online, it seemed that the temple wanted him to fight the bovine, and the wolf nodded he would do just that, well till he could getthe stone at least. The wolf sneered."Well my bovine freind even if Im striped of my powers, I was an expert warrior in my days when I was fully fleshed and I was the best warrior in all of my packs history. I see no problems with killing a measly cow to get the gem. So prepare yourself fool for lord syntaru might want a hamburger meal after he gets his body back."the wolf said with a laugh as he drew and ignighted his twin blades givign them a sharrp twirl in his paws as his eyes looked over the bull, judging his every movement looking for any suyden movemtn that would mean an attack or feint as he began to circle him.

Round and round the two went just inside the broken in room. The crunch of rubble beneath their feet and the whirl-clicks of Hyrda units waiting outside the zone of influence. When the wolf had his back to his own machines the bull charged, launching a series of thrusts and jabs, massive limbs moving with more agility than one would presume for such size. None of the strikes landing but when on the offensive to keep the painful blades at bay one worries more about self preservation than annhilation, besides, ruses only need to confuse not crush. "Give my regards to your robots shadow walker, your time on Mobius is drawing neigh. The Demon will never share power, even with the loyal ones, enjoy your just rewards!"
The dance complete the bull had a clear shot toward the statue and the gem inside down at the the end of the hall. Heavy legs pumping, Augustus charged down the passage toward the obsidian representation of mortality, and stopped short. There wasn't just one statue, there were many. The room filled to bursting capacity with black representations of all that lived on Mobius. Black trees, birds, mirkats, dogs, bugs, and things best not looked upon directly by the eye. But which one held the gem?

Kurenai was just about to follow Stealth, to make sure the fox didn't do anything he'll probally regret later, when the tremors started, startling the dhole and causing her to fall, jarring her half-healed injuries. The dhole let out a small hiss of discomfort as she tried to push herself up. "Thunder, I've yet to see anyone else but you four since I got back from there. Do you think I've seen the Goddess?" Her words came out a bit snipy towards the hedgehog, but she wasn't in the mood to deal with anything more. "Come on," she said, finally stable enough to walk, "let's go find Stealth..." Kuri sent an expectant look towards Thunder.

The Exiles meditation was broken as a wave flew under the ground. He could feel the quake tremble the ground beneath him as he forced himself to stand. For there to be this type of quake, something big must have happened....could Syntaru, Aurora's brother, be free?
With the grounds shaking, he had to create his own footing, generating a platform of light beneath his feet as he floated off the ground. The light and dark abjects around him gave him direction as he made his way back to the castle and inside. Hearing voices, he followed them, trusting the sounds more than his eyesight.
Then he saw the lights of his friends. The platform he created disappearing, he stepped towards the lights of Thunder and Kurenai."What has happened?"

Aries and Ishillar were in for quite the battles. They glanced at one another and darted off in different directions, to each the corresponding Walker did follow. While Aries made jabs, swipes and lunges with his Holy sword which was glowing with the light of Celestius Nova, Ishillar shot off hoardes of her daggars, also glowing in the same Holy energy. The enchanted blades that grazed or connected with the beasts made them burn and scream in agony, but they persisted in their attacks. The dance of offense and defense had taken a new turn amongst the fighters on the island.
And high above, the fierce fighting between Syntaru and Aurora waged on, each passing moment giving more time to the demon's Apostles so they may gather the final Gems. He was toying with his sister, every time she tried to heal a previous wound, he would strike, black pierces and slashes beginning to cover the Goddess' body. Her once eleagant robes slowly turning to tatters, it is strange to think that a Goddess of her caliber would allow herself to fall into such a trap. Especially once so obvious as this, why then indeed.. unless she was staling for something.. if she too was waiting for something to occur so that she may strike out against the Demon. Only time would tell what future awaited the planet Mobius and what direction the battle for dominance will take.

The other Vangaurds taken care of with the newly emerged Shadow Walkers, Tala once more turns her attention to Paladin and Shade, her calm face betraying none of the mixed emotions she feels with the steadily draining shadow powers. She tries to summon up the energy to fling a small sphere at Paladin but it extinguishes when it hits the edge of the carbon circle, a point to the light side.
"I will not be stopped by your mere parlor tricks fallen one!" She sneers derisively as she takes a step forward towards the deathog, feeling the wards pull at her as if she is walking through a thick syrup. It is through pure strength of will that she continues on, each step painful, as if the very essences of her being are being pulled back into the circle. Slowly but surely she emerges on the other side and a grin comes to her face, sliding away only as she realizes that she no longer feels the comfort of the shadows, usually ever present, around her. With a quýck glance back she is shocked to see a floating shadowy form of herself, the very essence of her tainted soul still trapped within the wards set out by Paladin.
She stares for a moment longer, realization dawning on the lemur that there was still a part of her that was mobian... and that part had allowed her to break free- but it was at the risk of losing her very powers that had gotten her this far. She looked towards the vangaurd that had her powers entrapped with a strange mix of emotions upon her face. They were now equally matched.
There was no choice, in order to regain her powers she would have to destroy him as she had planned before, but now she would have to do it on her own terms, with the skills taught to her by her father and from years of fighting for her Lord's cause. But it was no longer a matter of revenge, it was to gain back herself.

The haze in Mysts head was slowly starting to clear, as though whoever placed it there in the first place had loosened their hold on her. She shook her head for a moment and continued speaking to the strange monk.
"..Yes, a battle that will decide the fate of the universe.. I MUST be there. Can you help me?"
Her eyes fluttered as she pleaded and begged the monk to assist her. At the moment, he was her only hopes of making it to the Island foretold in her village scrolls. Elsewhere on the planet Naia was getting a little impatient, exposing and retracting her claws in a frustrated huff. She was growing tired of all the talking, but out of respect she waited for master Rayne and the Demon to finish their words. She felt a short disturbance in the energy of the room but paid it no attention. She chalked it up as the dark forces coming from the statue combined with the attacks on the Goddess.

The faux priest smiled humbly at the icy hedgie, normal teeth showing in the strange green light of the subterranian complex.
"Then it is agreed! Let us be off for the eye of the prophet post haste. There is a friend of mine in the depths of our home here that can take us to the final battle in little to know time at all. I sort of inherited the beast from a past aquaintance of mine. Don't be affraid of him, he's remarkably loyal. Follow the stairs over there to the surface, I'll bring our transportation up and off into the night we shall soar. May the light bless thee and keep thine future safe."
Bowing low the monk made his exit, and sure enough when Myst looked to the once blank wall of sandrock there was a doorway leading up. Through the dimly light passage the windswept Shifting Sands Desert was a pale blue under the moonlight whilst a storm in the far, far distance could be heard if not seen. Something big was happening on the horizon and Myst held little doubt that storm was over the Eye of the Prophet.
Down in the dungeon, Lucian cackled to himself, deception always being the easier parts of waging a war. Why fight with tooth, nail, and blade when a few well placed lies can do the work for you? Tapping the robotic dragon on the nose Apophis went online. "Wakey, wakey my mechanical friend, it seems like we finally have some orders. Something BIG is going down near Hot Crater Zone and the power levels are through the roof! Demons, Angels, really heavy mythical stuff. But I've just recruited a specialist for this current sortie and she's under the dellusion that I'm a priest. So just call me Brother if you need to comunicate. I'll fill you in on the details as we get to the surface to collect her."
Hoping on the Dragon's back the vampire told the Robotnik made minion of the plan to seize a soul gem of a demon from the Lord of Darkness himself for the Eggman empire. At least, that's what he told the dragon. . .
Meanwhile, the skeletal deathog found himself face to face with a mortal again shadow queen. If he had the flesh to sneer he might have then and there but the permenant grin of death was all Paladin had.
"So quick to call me fallen, but it seems you are the one that was impure to your master's nature. For if you were nothing than darkness you'd still be trapped with in my circle and your powers wouldn't just be floating their useless and drained. Could it be in all your fanatical beliefs that you are still mortal, still alive, and more importantly not as devoted to your Dark Lord as you thought? Consider my words as we do battle girl, for if faith is your only defense against my light you are sorely out gunned as it remains trapped in my circle of black!"
Dropping the defensive stance Paladin launches a series of kicks and punches. A terrible act of will is all the holds the deathog together, though Celestius Nova doesn't hurt nor the fact that Shade was busy powering the sealing circle. Bones lacking muscle and sinew clack together in a macabre dance as they connect with blocking arm or mechanical limb. Pain doesn't seem to be an issue for undead combatant and his strikes certainly pack a whallop in spite of his usual style requiring a weapon. Only all that training in a weaponless tournament is saving the deathog now as he does battle with the still very spry lemur. A smaller battle in comparison to the one waging in the heavens.
