How ironic was it that the betrayer would be sent to the Holy Mt. Aeres to traverse the Temple of the Goddess. The mountain itself was split into three above-ground portions, curved in a semi-circle, from the air the mountain looked like a ring, hence its pseudonym: The Ring of the Goddess. Of the temples this was the most revered.. and Shae was rather bitter about being sent here.
"Leave it to the bastard Syntaru to send me to the Holiest of Holy temples.. I bet he's laughing his carbon backside off down there in The Void.. 'Yes, I shall send the betrayer to the place he would most likely encounter his betrayee, I am such an evil demon.' Bastard." said Shae with a sigh. "He too underestimates my strength.. just like the warriors of the Goddess.. hmmph, right about now I bet they're all panicking because the Mortal heroes are all defeated.."
But, to a quite opposite effect, the Chaos Realm was not a place of panic and disarray. The Vanguards had all gathered in the Archway, the conduit between all other Universes. Aurora often used this room as a meeting place of the utmost secrecy. Aurora materialized herself inside the room in her Echidna form. She glanced around her loyal Vanguards and bowed her head.
"Before we embark on this dire mission, this final push, I wish us to pray together.. take hands all of us.. The darkest hour has fallen in the Universe Prime, the light has been pushed to the brink of madness.. but still we are strong.. our numbers diminished, warriors battered and the evil one looming over existence.. but still we are strong.. it is in unity that we find our true potential, from one another we draw courage, from one another we draw power, and we are strong.." said the Goddess.
As the words flowed from her lips, the Vanguards became wrapped in a celestial glow, the power of the Goddess engulphing them in a holy power.
"It is time.. my loyal Vanguards, you are now the last hope against Syntaru and his Apostles.. I have endowed you with some of my power to aide in the coming battle.. Celestius Nova will be the last act, should Syntaru rise again, we will carry it out.. for now I am assigning you by pairs to stop the Apostles from regaining the last shards.. Naia and Rayne you will depart to Heavy Canyon, Archer and Augustus you will go to the Aegis Forest and halt Legion's attempts, Aries and Ishillar you will be going to Mt. Aeres and will do what you can to stop Shae, and Paladin, you will accompany me to the Hot Crater Zone.. we must stop Tala and Shade.. you have your tasks my Vanguards, carry them out.. my light will be with you always.."
(OOC: Hokay, since that's alot of NPC's heading out into the world, I'm assigning some of these characters to YOU the RPers!
Aries and Ishillar will be played by Me, for reasons of selfish perfectionism. Naia will be played by Myst. Augustus will be played by Syth. Archer will be played by Stealth. Rayne will be played by Psy.
PM me before posting so I can give you the skinny on how each character acts.)

Crimson eyes looked back at the enchida and he flicked the guys hand off his shoulder."Im feelin allright so back off, Im not tin the best of moods after that chamber thing turned me into this freak. I look like a freakin yinyang symbol."he grumped. Yes He had a new look but stealths heart, mind and soul was still his own. Luminous sighed slightly as he nodded. "I shall let you be then. I myself have...my own concerns to think through. Maybe later, we can spar so that you can test your new abilities." With that, he walked away, his mind now filling with questions. Why was he defeated so easily by the dark creatures? Why has Stealth gone through such a transformation, and yet, he did not? walking outside the fortress, his brow furrowed before the depressing thoughts came. Maybe he was the one that was weak. Maybe he, not Stealth, was not supposed to be among these warriors. They had continued to gain power through their diversity. He only gained the sight into others souls, seeing only the light within and reflected...What was he missing, why is he not getting any further like the others?

(OOC- Come back soon CC, 5 characters is a bit much for me.)
Being paried with the Goddess, and to stop the Shadow Queen no less, and who ever this 'Shade' person was. Paladin was indeed honored to be traversing the Mobian Earth in such distinguished company. Readying his staff, the deathog braced himself for the teleport that would take the two light-beings into the very maw of darkness to do battle with those that which to wrench the world assunder.
"We shall not fail your holiness, the Temple of the Demon shall not be plumbed by the likes of Darkness nor obscund with the Soul Gem hence sealed. So I swear. . ."
A grim determaination the belied the deathogs nature gave the Goddess pause, if she didn't know better, she'd almost think that Vanguard Twilight was looking forward to the upcoming confrontation.
Also having his orders, Vanguard Augustus flexed his mighty chest muscles, it had been ages since he entered combat and his once peaceful eyes now lit with an inner burning fire. T'would seem the gentle giant was not so simple, or so gentle.
"Thy will be done, your holiness."
In a pillar of light the bovine defender of light was gone, streaking toward Aegis Temple.
Meanwhile;
Still rather dizzy but alive, Tala had used her tail to latch on to a wall sconce with a torch she'd expired with shadow power. The many blood stained spikes below here, or above her depending on your view of the matter, was tale enough to tell that few had gotten by this most inconspicuous of traps. Now with her mind straight even if her body wasn't, the outlining runes that powered the dead fall were clear, a snarl sent them to ribbons and the Shadow Queen loftily righted and touched down to solid, and safe stones.
After a brief brush at her clothes and a double check on her robotic arm, satisfied that she was fine, Tala continued on deeper into the Temple of the Demon. She came upon a simple 15 by 15 foot room of little consequence, torches lined the walls and cast their light into ever corner of the room. After pausing to sense any traps or people, and coming up with nothing, the lemur entered at a casual if cautious pace. The unholy wailing that started up once she reached the center of the room was proof enough that this place was armed to the teeth. Bracing for what ever was causing the ear spliting cries, an ambiance of darkness rose from the Shadow Queen's feet, ready to do battle.

Rayne bowed to the Goddess, and in a silent resolve travelled the light to his appointed destination. The Heavy Canyon was an intimidating place, large walls of solid rock, little vegitation and an errie and ominous wind howling. Rayne scratched his beard then turned to Naia.
"Well, young lass, the temple resides due East of our present location, no doubt the Walker has already reached the sacred place.. we must make haste.. I know this area well, for it was I who made this particular temple.."
The iguana began to walk through the incredible canyon various lizards and insects scurrying about the floor. Elsewhere on the planet Mobius Amon was stealthily manuvering through the dark caverns of Mt. Khakari, creeping past the Shadow Beasts that patrolled them. Teleporting ahead when needed to avoid being seen. He was following the faint life energy being emitted by Kuri.
Just a little further now, she should be around the next bend.. Goddess I hope she is not too far gone..
Just as Amon rounded the corner, a Shadow Beast lunged out infront of him, growling and snarling. It began to howl and shriek, calling others to its location. In moments Amon was surrounded by the ravenous creatures, readying to stirke and maul him. He was trapped..

The sounds of clashing metal against rock echoed through-out the canyon, a fierce battle just up ahead of the two Vanguards. If they were to come into view, they would have seen a multi-scarred stone golem missing half of it's rock components. It still fought on fiercly, swinging every opportunity for sake of the light against the blazing shadow walker. Andre was in no mood to play lightly, and he hefted The Reckoner in such as way that his two claws were in the position to unleash a massive swing.
The elemental being no doubt saw this, and it hesitated momentarily. This turned out to be even more of a mistake, as the giant demon rushed forward with surprising speed, a mighty swing carving a path through the thing's outstretched arm. The rocks held together by magic there fell uselessly to the ground, all the while that Demockstro made another turn using his weight to his advantage when he stopped, using his body instead of his arm muscles to swing the blade. In a few moments it was over, half of the golem's body split in two by the Void-crafted sword. Magic that was used to chain the body of the golem together died with the severing of itself, and all the stones fell in a dusty demise.
Andre Demockstro did not look back. He had lost too much time, he had to hurry. The colossi began to take large strides towards the Temple of Fate still hefting The Reckoner in one hand, dragging it against the dirty ground. His final task was almost complete, at least he felt in his mind.

Thunder continued to fall into darkness, unable to move. He started to hear voices among the space. Friends and enemies alike. Stealth, Goddess Aurora, Shae, and even the fiend Legion were heard among these. The jumble of all the voice made Thunder confused. Each of them pulling him in difference directions. Some encouraging. Others the opposite. Then he heard Shurichi's voice among them echoing in the darkness. Thunder struggled to try and focus, but they were becoming louder and sharper. It became more and more frustrating until, finally, he forced himself awake, screaming in cold sweat.

Naia looked over at the sagely Rayne and followed closely behind. She had admired Rayne, for eons he'd served the Goddess yet he was so humble. She admired him, wishing she could deny her arrogant and stubborn ways, but she kept falling back into them. They had been so ingrained into her being that they were impossible to ignore.. her curiosity also began to perkilate..
"Forgive me Master Rayne, but I must ask.. why on Mobius would you build one of the sarcred temples here in this primative place? It surely does not suit the Holiness of such a structure.."
She asked him, as they walked through the awe inspiring canyon. Far to the South, Myst's transfer shuttle had arrived and she had boarded. Soon she would arrive in the Shifting Sands Zone, where she would meet up with her contact who would take her to the Hot Crater Zone, so that she may see the final end of the Dark Shadow.

The avian watched as the bovian lept off, in his eyes almost too eaqger for battle. He stood up and nodded to the goddess."I will do requested my goddess. I will now at your request aid my vellow vangaurd in destroying this feind to the light. For now the archer has a new prey to hunt."He said with a nod making sure his crossbow was at his side and his quiver full before vanishing in a flash of light reapearing at agustus' side in the aegis forest.
The hydra at simons side sudenly let out an ear shattering screech and the dark wolf just nodded."Yes I know, two light energy flashes just apeared on my sensors as well my pet. It seemed the goddess sent me two toys this time. As such go ahead and play with the visitors while I get on the radio and scrounge up some more playmates for them so I can get my jewel."he said as the hydra ran off its guns charging up tenticles curling and uncurling as it barreled trough the brush heading tword the two vanguards. All the while legion began to talk urgently into his rwrist com.
Stealth just nodded to the enchida as he left, he then closed his crimson yees walking back into the dining facilty and sighed a weary sigh. he sat and leaned agiasnt his favoirte goddess statue glad for some familarity and stableness among this crazy place as he contenplated on what had happend to him.

Ah, Aegis Forest, one the few barely tainted forests left on Mobius. The lush foliage home to thousands upon thousands of life forms, the very land teemed wtih life. Granted, most of it wasn't sentient, which is probably good considering the battle of mammoth porportions about to take place. Before the two freshly arrived vanguards the Temple of Mortals stood. The home of the soul gem built by the living inhabitants of Mobius, a gift for their goddess and a blight to their demon, it housed the Gem of Mortality. A truely wicked thing indeed.
Augustus looked to his right, Archer had already teleported to the scene. With the powers of Celestius Nova coursing through their corpreal spirit bodies they felt a raw surge of energy they hadn't felt in their mortal times upon the Mobian surface. The very air danced with their lumincent glow, regular paragons of light. And prime bulls-eyes, if you'll forgive the pun. In a moment, the bull clenched his fist, and from the light coalecing a large war hammer formed. The long shaft and rought wooden handle ending in a massive mallet head that could level a building by the looks of it. Such a tool of wholesale destruction looked so out of place in the hands of the usually peaceful monk. But war was at hand and there wasn't a way in the darkness strewn depths of the Pit that the Herald of Souls was going to let another gem fall into the hands of the enemy.
Patting that enormous head in a prepetory manner, Augustus spoke, "The time grows neigh brother. Let us deal with this upstart on our own terms. I suggest you scout him out with your advantage of flight while I act as a gatekeeper to the Temple's entrance. There is but one way into these hallowed halls and in the event that you can not sway his path I will keep him from entering. What say you?"
Meanwhile; Tala's trouble in the temple was getting worse. Apparently, the reason why the room was empty is because the spirits emerging from the four wall scones have a habbit of consuming everything but the stones that compel them to this plane of existance and imprison them to their devouring endevours.
"You know, I'm honestly getting very irritated at all this. I am to be a Queen of the Realms and I will not be balked by some ghost with an overly voracous appetite. Prepare to be undone those that would impede my quest to serve My MASTER!"
The spirits in the room renewed their howling all the more, their coerosive nature filling the air like some sort of stagnant stench. The lemurs fur started to singe a little as the bluish languid flames danced in the empty space as the small enclosure filled up. Having had enough of this triffle, the Shadow Queen clapped her hands together, and when the robotic and fleshly appendages met a similar wave of hungry spirits lept from her hands.
The two met and the seemingly impassable trap screamed out in a different manner. It came to know the fate of all those it had consumed in impotent anger. Slowly but surely, the dancing black flames wafted about the four corners of stone. Hungrily consuming the once threatening flames. When the shadow summoned spirits finally ate their way to the the wall sconces, they snuffed out and all was awash in darkness.
Save for two glowing red eyes, and a preditor smile.
A smile that faltered a moment later when the feeling of some blessed encroachment assalted the lemurs senses. Like some massive gravity well of healing light, the ambiance of the Goddess was near, and a much smaller preasure of one of her vanguards. If Aurora had come personally to put a stop to Tala's quests to acquire all the Soul Gems she would just have to disapoint her holiness then. Smilling anew, the Shadow Queen stepped forward, into the dark, ready for what lay ahead.
Meanwhile, having taken the liberties of transporting the two to conserve the Goddess' energy, Vanguard Twilight touched down with his soverign in tow. The familar stench of sulfer and freshly burned stone rang clear in the deathogs mind, he recalled his recent defeat upon this very arena, or one akin to it.
"Lady, I can not tell if one of the Apostles is in the Temple yet. There is so much. . .wrongness. . . all about this place. Even in my previous incarnation the Reaper's tread lightly in this light cursed place. But let us make haste to the Soul Gem, I'm sure if they're not already here they won't be far be . . . "
A scythe of darkness interupted Paladin, casting it's self into the stone at the deathog's feet. On an outcropping overlooking the temple, Shade stood, the shadowy blade having already returned to his dark grasp. Surprised in both attack and realization that his life long companion had not expired, it didn't take long for the deathog known as Syth to realize that his very compatriot had been perverted into something wholely evil. And he knew despair, for while no hatred beat in the breast of the vanguard he knew true and righteous rage. For all that split the smoke filled atmosphere was.
"NOOOOOO!"
Light abound, and staff drawn, Paladin Twilight entered the fray.

(ooc- >Syth, you did an amazing job with Tala and have given me some new direction, which will be fun to play with *grins evilly* You now have one less character to worry about!)
The scream could be heard even by Tala deep within the dark Temple of Syntaru and she paused but for a moment, throwing a glance behind her towards the area that she had just come through. She could sense the beings of that cursed wench Aurora and that of Shade and she knew that they had met, but they would fail as they had with every other attempt at retrieving the shards... Tala would not let them have the victory that her lord and Master so rightly deserved. Aurora had reigned over the mortals for long enough and the time of Syntaru was drawing ever closer.
The shadows, an ever-present comfort to the lemur enveloped her gladly as she strode silently forward through the torch'lit passageways. Droplets of sweat from the immense heat gatherred and left her fur wet with perspiration, something she did not even notice, her mind being so set upon her goal. This did not stop her from noticing a simple rune carved upon the cavern wall, but she was too late in noticing as she passed by, trigering yet another trap. At first it was a simple tingling in her extremities- the tip of her tail and toes, she could feel it slowly going up her arms, she felt weak and tired, as if all her energy was being drained from her. Her steadily increasing anger flared, spiking the shadow energy coming from within her own body but the tingling only grew stronger and worse. "I've had....ENOUGH!" Drawing from the very shadows around her she blasts away the tingling sensation, seeing for a mere moment a glimpse of light white threads that had attatched themselves to her body sizzling as the darkness enveloped them. She smiled satisfactorily and, taking a single deep breath, continued into a large circular room with a circular moat of lava burbling only metres in front of her and sending off waves of heat that would make any lesser forms faint, but the lemur- now almost used to the heat merely breathed in the sulfiric smell and narrowed her eyes, searching for the next area that she would need to go towards.
__
Psychosis' words sounded in the feline's mind and she sighed, shaking her head sadly. Things were settling down in a fashion, Aurora and the other vangaurds having left for their meeting. CC was not entirely sure what was going on, but she felt that something big was happening and there was not a damn thing that she or any of the other mortals, could do about it. It was useless to be angry though, some of the other fighters had responded in anger, Spade had left the scene, Psychosis had gone to save Kuri, Stealth was settled and seemingly back to his normal self.
But what were they to do? Never one to just stand around, the feline strode up to the fox, the only fighter left that she felt she knew and with a glint in her emerald green eyes and smiled, showing her sharp teeth. "Stealth, nice to see you settled, but stop your dramatics." She grins and winks at him before continuing no, "I am pretty sure that most of you are a bit down at being stopped... and I am guessing that all of us failed at our tasks. I do not really know what our Lady Aurora is up to, but I am not just going to stand around here waiting for them to return or for the Apocolypse to come, so what say we find a way outta this realm and be of some use. I am sure that we can come up with something. What say you all?"
Her cheerful voice rings out through the small area that man of the fighters are standing within and she stands tall and full of energy. In the back of her mind she was worried about Amon, he had left so suddenly and had apologized for lying, it did not make her feel any better but at least he had said something. BUt he left without even thinking that perhaps others could help as well... the more she thought about it the more she understood, he, like her, was one used to working alone. The strength in her eyes and he stance falterred for a moment, she could not chase away the unsteady feeling in her gut... but with all her might she focussed on all that she could - the group in front of her.

Shade's eyes narrowed as Paladin, his former master, jolted through the air toward him. Raising his ShadowScythe he blocked an attack the energies of the two polar opposite weapons cackling in the air. The lava around them bean to bubble and churn. Bursts of blazing liquid shooting into the air. As if the force of the powers clashing was affecting the state of the volcanic island.
"New form, old tactics.. pity when you defected you did not gain any real strength.. however in service to Syntaru, I have become more powerful than I ever could stuck with the likes of you.. you are weak, my former master.. and now it seems the creation has surpassed its creator.. and once I'm finished with you, I will strike down the Goddess, like the billions of souls we collected through the ages.. NOW, SYTH, IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO BE COLLECTED!" said Shade, a strange passion in his words. The evil corrupting him swirling in a misted cloud.
In a quick 180 spin, Shade swiped at Paladin with the business end of his ShadowScythe. A loud 'chinkt' sound echoing through the air as his blade missed its mark. In a growl Shade freed the blade and swiped again, clanging against Paladin's weapon, more energy cackling off of them. Repeated slash after slash, Shade seemed to be on the warpath, as if a burning hatred resonated from the Shadow Clone toward its former master. It was the ultimate example of rebellion in vengeance. The Goddess, knowing Paladin had the situation in hand, built up a massive store of energy pulling it from nature itself.. the heat of the lava, the hard primordial rock, the air, the sun.. everything of her creation loaned a little bit to her power.
"When there was neverending darkness, no existence, time was the constant.. eternal.. Lord Chronus, master of time decreed that this was not enough.. and he created the Light and the Shadow.. the great battle did ensue, for Milena they fought.. but in the end the light won out, pushing the Shadow into the Void.. and now, as was done those eons ago.. the light shall strike down the wretched darkness.." said the Goddess.
She raised her right hand into the air, palm flat, pure light energy shooting off her form crumbling a few rocks from the edges, falling into the burning pits with a hiss. The Goddess swung down her hand and a massive lightening bolt of pure white struck the Temple of the Demon shattering the structure entirely. Not a stone was left, all that remained was a very shocked Tala, the Holy alter, and the Carbon statue that rested upon it. The statue was a perfect resemblance of Syntaru in all his fury. The eyes of the statue began to glow..
"Ah.. dear sister.. what do you hope to accomplish here? You bring with you your slaves, the Vanguards hoping that endowed with your light they might halt my Apostles and stay my ascension.. but you know as sure as Chronus created us, that I am pre-destined to rise again into this plain.. it was prophesied by your very StarChild, Rayne.. you cannot alter destiny.." said Syntaru
"True, one cannot alter the destiny of the higher plain.. but as I have watched the mortals, one's own destiny CAN be altered.. I cannot stand by idly and let you destroy this wondrous Universe.. nor the others spawned from our battles.. I have stopped you before.. and with the help of my greatest warriors, neigh, the help of those that I would consider kin.. my loyal Vanguards.. who serve because they choose.. we will stop you at any cost to ourselves.. YOU WILL NOT RISE AGAIN.. I CANNOT LET YOU!" said Aurora, tears flowing from her eyes, causing rain to fall over the island, steam rising up from the pits of lava as the cool water touched it.
"Stirring words dear sister.. but you will fail.. and I will ascend and destroy all you have held sacred.. I cannot be stopped.. you're wasting your time.." said Syntaru. (Telepathically) TALA retrieve the Gem NOW unseal the statue.. the return of this Gem should give me enough power to attain a minor corporeal form!

Paladin recoiled again and again, his charged weapon refusing the shadow scythe from striking him, always that ever sharp blade point inches from perforating a vital spot on the vanguards body. It seemed as they were locked in battle high above the lava pits, that they were evenly matched. Two souls of the same font, opposite sides of a similar coin. But where as one was always a being and the other created, one would think that the original held the advantage. While in truth, Shade being a composite of an expired spell and Syntaru's own dark will held the upper hand in the battle and it clearly showed after the initial strikes. After a series of furious blows that rent the rock beneath the combatant's feet the two seperated a moment and begun to circle.
"Huff. . .puff. . .huff. . .puff. . .do you not even know what you are, meager shadow? So caught up in simply existing with out my eye on you always that you have forgotten your purpose!?!"
If the living darkness gave any indication about what the deathog was ranting it didn't show outwardly. A few more clashing strikes and they parted again, ever circling around each other, searching for weaknesses or chinks in their equally immaculate defenses. When the two charged again, Twilight dropped his staff, letting the shocked shadow sink his blade a few inches into the vanguards side. Grasping Shade's head on each side and headbutting him once, the two remained nose to nose as the vanguard spoke.
"Ashes of the Crematorium. Bound with dirt of the grave. Rotten wood of the priest staff. Empower my eternal glaive. Powers bound and sealed. Like our lot, and chained fate. Remember once loyal follower. Thrown wide is Memory's Gate!"
All at once everything vanished into the darkness that bore him. Syth/Paladin/Master was gone. The Temple was gone. The Goddess was gone. The Lava, the Mountains, the fumes, all gone. And in mere moments that green firy eye of Thanatos blazed in existance. This was Shades first moments of sentience, crafted from the ether, devised by death, fueled by the soul. The One-Eyed God looked down on his creation for the first time and spoke. "I have given you a likeness of life, little shadow. Guard my surrogate son as if you would defend me. Keep him safe, and one day I will give you a body of your own to walk the realms as you choose. The Deathog is young, and has no one to call his own, befriend him, defend him, and always watch over Syth Thanatos!"
And in a bastion of green, eeiry flame the vision was over. Shade didn't flinch though, and parted ways from his former master's touch. Standing up fully, staff in hands, the deathog braced himself for the ensuing battles ahead. A new, all-together frigtening aura glowed about the vanguards form. Nothing visual, perhaps it was the way he stood, or the manner in which he held his weapon. But it spoke of power, it spoke of merciless efficentcy. It spoke of an absolute certainty in what was about to happen, was going to happen, no matter what. As if Fate herself had decreed the actions about to transpire as the Law.
New stance or not, the result of this battle would leave only one combatant walking away from this infernal place. It was only a flicker, but the shadow thought it might have seen a metalic glint of sunlight off the end of Paladin's staff. Surely a trick of the light but disconscerning none the less. . . .

Stealth sighed and rolled his eyes atthe nosy cat. he turned to her and stared at her with his new crimson eyes. at least you dotn look like some tribal yin yang."he grumbled but still he nodded to her words and shrugged."what the hell. Im in..get me out of this realm and Ill go anywhere you lead."
Archer turned to agustus and nodded. He then took off into their air with skilled ease."As you wish my compaion though I do not know why the goddess would worry about this one. from what I have pertained there seems to be no magic and from my height I onlysee metalicwrecks scattering the place."
Meanwhile a pair of metalic eyes seemd to watch the two vanguards sending over the visual data to its master.
