"My deepest appologies, in my age I have lost a great deal of my reflexes.. please, if you are able let us continue, I will be more alert on the next passageway.." said Shae, a little disappointed that it was not Aries that had taken the brunt of the trap.. oh well, the next one for sure..
They continued down the long dingy halls of the Temple. They came across yet another hall with perfectly smooth floors and walls. This time, Shae hit the saftey swicth before they entered, he waved the Vanguards ahead and waited until they were halfway and then released it bfore they saw. Several slits opened up in the wall, the inside of which began to glow an eerie orange. Elsewhere, Gulo had entered deep into the City.. he was searching for a weapon's shop when he spied an odd looking Echidna huddled in the Shadows.
"Hey you.." called out the Wolverine to the young looking Echidna (OOC: That'd be you Blondfang)

Truely irked that he'd become a deathog pin-cushion the Judicator let it go. He was a new person, a new entity, a new chance in general to make things right starting with not laying waste to this city because a doddering old man couldn't keep his switches straight. But in the calming breaths he took walking down the darker hallway his heart rate slowed and over all he was more relaxed. Sadly this more at ease state came with the price of being less alert.
On the arrows came this time, full fledged missles tipped with arrowheads ensorcelled with flame. The blistering arrows cut through the poor light like a knife and instinct alone kept Paladin from becoming just another holy corpse. Often in traps and in battle, ducking is the preliminary move most people make in their defense. This proved wise as the first volley came in at about chest level. Rolling to the side and drawing his staff awkwardly in the close arena of combat, Twlight did his best to fend off the once again tripped trap.
Many of the arrows thudded into the wooden staff. The ordinary untreated pole a poor defense against inflamed aggressors. Soon the deathog took grazing blows, and while nothing serious pierced him at first the near misses did catch his robes aflame. The fine white fabric caught quickly and in a moment of panic to douse the flames the last volley ended with Twilight taking an arrow to the shoulder. A grim grunt of pain and the deathog once more found himself on his knees. Snapping the arrow staft off and slapping at the flames the deathog growled through his teeth.
"Not to imply violence against a monk dear druid but my patience is wanning VERY thin. . . ."

Aries too was growing vastly annoyed with this old bat. He looked sternly into the bat's eyes, crossing his arms. Shae in this guise, stared back, bowing his head in a shame-like manner. He pulled his hand away from the wall and began rubbing his wrist.
"I beg your forgivness once more, my arthritic hands are not as steady as they once were.. I swear on my Druidic honor that it will not happen again.." said Shae in the elder voice.
"No, it will not." said Aries brushing singed fur from his arm, and sealing the wounds on Paladin with a healer spell, removing the imbedded arrow. "And to be sure about that, I will set the next safety, you will point it out to me, and for your sake you had better hope your memory is better than your physicality."
The bat let out a low growl, Aries had grown rather confidant in the years. It was time again to let the rebellious hedgehog know the wrath of his superior. They wandered deeper into the temple, the final smoothen floor infront of them. The bat walked to the edge that seperate the smooth floor from the tiled.
"The correct switch is.. oh let me think.. it is the one on the left.. I am most absolutely positive." said Shae
Aries walked over to the wall and hit the switch, he nudged the elder Druid ahead first. And he safely walked across the flat surface passing the hall.
"There.. you see? I'm not a completely useless old coot.." said the bat in a chuckle
"No, it would seem you are not." said Aries, still weary of the Druid.
He and Twilight walked over the floor, and at first all seemed fine. But, out of the corner of his eye, Aries saw the old bat click his heel against the tiled ground on the other side, a loud thud and a clank echoed in the hall. From the ceiling a large pendulic-axe swung down. Aries managed to push Twilight out of the way, but not without catching a small gash on the shoulder.
"Gaaaahh... Paladin.. that old bat.. it's Shae.. I was not certain at first, but I am most positive now.. he's used a cloaking spell to alter his appearance." said the hedgehog wincing in pain.
"Well, well.. it took you long enough Aries, I would have thought you'd be smarter by now.. yes it has indeed been me leading you through these traps.. the two of you are far more resilliant than I'd perceived.. however.. you are no match for me.. catch me if you can.. vile filth of the light.." said Shae, throwing aside the robe and assuming his natural form. he blasted a hole in the ceiling and flew out into the sky.
"Paladin, you go on ahead.. I cannot move my arm.. that blade was laced with a paralytic solution.. Shae will use every trick imagineable.. don't take your eyes off him for a second.." said Aries, just before passing out on the temple floor.

Halo’s head snapped up and over as he heard someone calling towards him a look of puzzlement and worry washed over his face quickly. Moving his hands down and around he kept the wrist blades hidden from view for now as he looked over towards the wolverine. Keeping to the shadows and his body tensed up ready to spring he nodded his head briefly towards him. “Y-yes?” He licked his lips slightly the echidna’s ears flicking slightly while his hands pulled in and out of fists as he took a brief glance at the others dress noting to himself and weapons he could see or any clues as to who he was.
Gulping once his mind raced worried now that he could be a hunter or a law enforcer who had found the near dead bodies near by. Trying to keep himself clam he shook his head from side to side shaking the thoughts from his mind. “Is there something you want sir?”

Stealth just grunted at the enchida and shook his head. "Im not used to partners pal...they usualy get in my way...try not too."he grumbled as he headed down the stairwell, the sound of flames getting closer. He narrowed his eyes and peered through the darkness. What exactly was going down there, did his prey set off a trap, or was she preparing something nasty in wait for them. He growled and shook his head, ignoring the enchida for now as he ran down going lower and lower, his stepps ringing through the passage way."Come on out toots...I wont bite...................much."he whispered to himself.

His foe revealed Paladin cast aside his tattered top robe and brandished his staff. A fire kindled in the deathogs eyes, cast not of hatred or rage but of the practiced battle lust found in veteran fighters. While not a scythe, the pole arm was similar enough to Twilight's experience and so he was not defenseless. In a deep tenor that resonated in the bat's sensative ears he understood in the depths of his being that this vanguard ment business experience or no.
I will offer you the honor of not asking for your surrender. Darklings only reliquish to battle when they feel mercy is an option and they are throughly beaten. And we both know you will find no mercy at these hands. Come child of shadow, let us do battle as our Masters intended.
Hear me Lady Aurora, guide my hand and bless this servant in his quest to do your bidding. So I swear to the illumination of my soul, fortuna nocturni para simpure illuie!"
While not nearly as well versed in his ways as Shae was in darkness Paladin Twilight charged up what little powers he had. The energy crackling off the air, making the atmosphere heavy as the dual natures of the combatants playing one of the other like an electrical storm. A faint glow encompassed the deathog and his weapon, a meager blessing to be sure but a painful jab indeed to the darkness the bat now pulsed with.
Over matched, out smarted, and alone, the deathog charged the bat with every intention of brining him down.

In a smooth flow of motion, Shae gracefully manuvered himself around Twilight's initial charge. Once behind the former Repear, he used the Vanguard's momentum against him by firing a fair sized energy orb into his backside.
"Is this all you've got? Really now I would have thought the son of a God would have much more intelligence than this.. you should know better than to strike at ME head on.. I mean really.. an infant could have seen that last one coming.." mocked the bat, trying to incite more rage from Paladin.
He telported infront of the slowing Vanguard, or at least that's what it seemed, in fact he had sent out his energetic dopple-ganger. When the fool hearty Vanguard struck at it, the resulting blast would be quite a spectacle. Elsewhere;
"Yeah, you in the shadows.. you're a vampire aren't you.. don't worry.. I'm not an Enforcer.." Said Gulo, walking into the alley, the sheen on his metallic body fading from the sunlight which was slowly dissipating on this area of the globe. "I'm just an ex Ivonist looking for some fresh recruits.. you see.. since branching on my own I've marked up quite an enemies list.. including a certain Vampire named Lucian.. ever heard of him?"

Upon searching, Thunder detected plasma energy among the foliage, not to mention footprints of a timber wolf. Also, there were strange energy signatures telling of an entry point through the astral plane with shadow-like energy.
"Man, whoever this guy is," Thunder said to himself. "He had help with him. This ain't gonna be easy. Nevertheless, I gotta stop Legion from getting that SoulGem."
Making a cloud made of electricity underneath him, he floated to get a look at the direction in which the tracks and shadow energy was going. Lo and a behold, there was a temple in the distance. Wasting no time, Thunder dropped back down and raced in that direction, hoping that there would be some resistance to slow him down.
When he finally met the end of the underbrush, he caught the target timber wolf approaching the temple. It was now or never. Running out of the brush, Thunder charged his lightning, grabbing his whip, and shot a concentrated ball of lightning in Legion's direction.

Shade was a little late in arriving at the temple in Downunda. For his own reason he was hesitant, but that was quickly subsided by the overwhelming influence of Syntaru. Shade had sensed the appearance of his former master, changed and reformed. A part of him felt drawn back to that point, that had been his reason. Shade's rift opened on the temple steps and the pure black reflection of the Deathog rose up from it. With a quick look around he assessed the task at hand.
"This place is heavily defended.. much like the last one.. I detect two warriors of light also headed this way.." said the shadow to himself. He contemplated: "Should I deal with them first, or retrieve the Gem.."
It did not take Shade long to make his decision, he would make his way to the Gem first, securing that which Syntaru desired and send it through the rift, then he would deal with the interloping warriors of light. He stuck the point of his scythe into the ground infront of the temple, a black bolt of energy scorched Syntaru's mark into it.. a stake of claim more than anything. A challenge to those heroes that would interefere.
Shade made his way inside the temple, passing through the entrance. As a shadow corporealised, alot of the motion-alerted traps did not go off in his arrival. However, carelessly, he had stepped on a trigger and was nearly severed by a myriad of axes swinging vertical from the ceiling and horizontal from the walls. Luckily his nimble body and agility allowed him to successively dodge each striking blade. He would not be so careless again, lest it cause him to fail the Lord Syntaru, which he did not want..

One of the demonic falcons swooped low in the air, passing by the lemur who was balanced precariously on a small rock, waiting for the next gout of flame to go by before jumping. It screeched lightly as it passed her by and then swooped into a dark hole that the lemur had not noticed when she first enterred the large cavernous room. There were stairs leading down to it and she surmised that it was obviously an alternate entrance and that whoever it was that was coming to retrieve the shard was drawing nearer as the Shadow Creature had indicated. The sharp taloned falcon flies through the hole, its sharp eyes spying the fox within mere moments - he was closer than any of Syntaru's followers thought as he had made his way through the tunnels with ease. By him was the white echidna and they were making their way slowly towards the large cavern.
Turning invisible, the dark mist that follows the creatures can not be seen due to the inky blackness of the path itself, the hissing sounds of the gouts of flame can be heard more strongly now and a faint breeze of air brushes over the fox. It is almost too late to notice the sound of flapping in the air as the first falcon attacks the echidna and at the same time the second, having followed the other, attacks the large fox. Their talons and beaks are sharp and they go directly for the soft muzzles of the followers of Light, ripping and tearing whereever possible.
In the meantime, Tala feels the gust of flame go near her face, her eyes are closed so as to not be blinded by the fire and once the flame has settled she hops to the next rock, drawing ever closer to the large island in the middle of a lake. Soon she would be at the edge of the lake, which had not broken off and still stood calmly, as if held by a large basin that was not connected to the rest of the floor that had dropped away. With another leap she lands gently upon the edge of the lake, sparing a look up at the entrance hole to see whether or not Aurora's minions would exit, but she does not see anything and knows that the Shadow Creatures would be doing their jobs.

(OoC: I'm actually waiting in Andre to dodge Ci Ci's attack before resonding as Amon. I had a certain method I wanted to play on this with.. so if you could post Tonix.. it would be much appreciated.)
Spade was dashing across the desert, Kuri beside him matching stride. The muscleboung koalla smiled at her as they zoomed along. It did not take too much tim for the two to reach the temple, where, on the ground they saw the mark of Syntaru emblazeed upon the desert sand. Spade looked to his dhole partner and simply nodded.
"The shadow one is definately here, it was him who made this mark.. this temple is known to my peopl as a place of great anguish.. if ever anyone was bannished from the tribe, they would have too come here and make it all the way through to the back exit alive.. so far none of my people have been able to do it.. had they, they would have been accepted back.. it is a shame really." Spade said, a note of depression in his voice. "I have no fear however, you and I are protected by our Mother.. we will succeed and make her proud.."
After a short moment in the breeze, Spade, with Kurenai not far behind, made their way up to the temple's entrance. Spade was cautious, he knew that there were many a trap inside this temple. If the two were to suvive, he knew they would have to constantly be on their guard. A watchful eye and fine tuned ear would be their saving grace. They carefully made their way inside, and almost immidiately Spade triggered a motion sensing trap.
A fairly large black snake slithered out from a wall. It's gaping jaw and large fangs proving that it would be quite a menace to overcome. Spade lowered his axe from his shoulder and charged the beast head on. With a quick sway of the snake though, Spade was pinned up against the wall by its tail. All he could to was wince and groan from the swift strike.. but he mustered enough to yell out to Kuri:
"Go.. on.. ahead.. I.. will stop.. this.. great beast.. be weary.. Kuri.. you must.. stop.. the shadow.."

OOC: Spyn PAY ATETNION, Simon does not have shadow beasts with him, in fact he doesent even like the things he prefers to use his own troops, he going solo on the island so pay atention to what you post and read!
IC:Simons snesors alerted him to incoming danger of a minimal degree. He imediatly whiped around letting his plasma blade strike through the ball of energy disapating it. He then glanced at the impudent hedgehog as the scanners in the eye washed over him. The weak reading he recieved made him laugh. "hehehehe is this all that goddess will send after me? does she think so low of me to bring out this little welp? heh your no match for me begon child if you care to live. "he said as he turned his back on the hedgehog and walked twords the temple.
Meanwhile stealth gave out a hiss of pain as a falcons tallons slash though his cheek. His ears perked up feeling movign air and flapping wings. "DAMN IT WE GOT COMPANY!! SHADOW CREATURES!"he hissed he had a feeling it was those birds he faought when he got into this mess. Stealth then let out a snarl as he brought his arms to defend his face after holstering his weapons, as of now bullets were useless agisnt those beings and also..he couldnt see where they are to shoot. All he could do was predict where they were via wing sounds and air movemnts from what he could hear, there seemed to be two and they were plit up between the dread head and himself .there misteak."Yo luminus! time to bring out our wild cards heh."he called out as he reomoved one arm from his face and a ball of light energy soon gathered in his palm brinign a little bit more light into the room He then squeezed the ball anda bright flash of light envolped the room for a quick second and when the light faded stealth was holdign a brillabnt blazing sword of light and soul in his paws. as his eyes were now locked on a dazed shadow creature, the ligth had stunned the flacons momentairly. Stealth couldnt help but grin as he ran forward raising his blade. "GAME OVER!"he cried out jumping and slashing his weapon through the falcon, light eating it like cnacer as it disapated into nothing. Stealth sat there for only a seocnd blood running down his face and arms before glancing back at luminus. "Hey you...take care of the rest we gotta beat that witch... I saw what you did o those beasts back there...and after the chamber I know you can handle these things without breaking a sweat...good luck."He said running down and through the exit lettign a gasp as he saw a large cavern gouts of flame juttign through the floor and in the center a large lake with an ilsand that must be the wenches target...
