The meditation had turned into a deep slumber, the Lemur did not mean to fall asleep it had just happened as if she had really no choice in the matter. Since meeting Syntaru her dreams had been quiet and dark, the way she liked and in fact, she barely even rememberred them most of the time and would wake up ready to continue work. But the dreams now they came as if a floodgate had been opened and they assaulted every pore of her mind.
Flames, large engulfing flames and screams that would shatter the very soul- sounds coming from animals- they were no longer mobian. Feral rage took over as they ran about desperately trying to put out the flames, their only thoughts on survival. The screams woke her first, the smoke had already done part of its job in helping her sleep deeper, but no one could ignore those screams. The flames lapped under her bedroom door and she grabbed onto her stuffed creature that her father had given her when she was young. She was too old for it, she knew, but she kept it by her side and now hugged it tightly as tears streaked down her white and black face.
She utterred not a sound and instead went to the door, touching the handle lightly - it was so hot it burnt even before she was able to put her paw upon it and she backed away quickly, fear rising within her. The door burst open and her father enterred... she thought it was her father but the flames coverred him and a wild look was in his eyes. Fur dropped off in burning clumps and the smell of cooking flesh assaulted the nose of the young lemur. Behind the howls of pain something yelled run- perhaps the last clear thing her father was able to mutter before the fire fully engulfed him and he fell to the floor writhing in pain.
That shock was enough to send the little girl running... running... running... the scene in the dream changes smoothly and no longer is she in the burning house but outside crying, tears running down her soot-coverred face. It hurt so bad... so much hurt... but the bad men they are there. They are searching through the house... must hide...must hide from them all but where. Where to hide... the forest is near but they are there...
come here...
Is it them? Wild eyes look into the forest where the voice had come from
follow the shadows... come into them... they will save you...
Follow the shadows? How could she follow shadows... but the called to her and she followed. She slipped into them and disappeared- she knew that she was safe even though she could still see all the happenings by the house through a strange dark haze. She watched as they searched for her, found her footprints. "Uh man Ike... Goddess knows we made a mistake bombing the wrong house.... but to kill off the whole family inside 'cept for the kid. It just isn't right, but they were in the zone. They knew it. We had to destroy the area. Lets find the kid and get out of here"
Had to destroy the area... they wanted to... your father had been honourable and refused to help them... so they killed him...
Darkness again and quiet, flames tinged at the edges of her dreams and burns more than 10 years old ached with the remembrance of the flame upon her flesh.
