So intently guarding the outside he never bothered checking behind him, but then again, when an all black deathog shadow appears out of the cracks around the temple entrance. It's hard to notice at first. Smiling and drawing his own shadow scythe Shade tapped the handle on the infernal one's shoulder and set, squaring off with his weapon ready to fight.
"Excuse me, and forgive me if I'm judging you on appearances, but I'm guessing you're something nasty from the Pit and definately not on our side. So be a good little demon and bugger off till my Master returns?"
Turning around and hissing it was obvious Andre wasn't amused.
They never want to do things the easy way. . . the living shadow thought. I'm not going to be able to hold out very long against this creature Master, return, and quickly!

(ooc- bwah) The message rang loud and clear inside the head of the lemur and she quickened her pace, especially when she realized that a reinforcement of sorts had arrived and that the gem had been brought out of the statue. The situation was dealt with by Andre, much to her immense relief and he continued dealing with yet another hinderance that she did not need. From the outside sounds she could tell that the beasts were holding up their part of the deal but still, the Goddess was a tricky one and she knew that if the worlds of her Lord were that hurried then she probably did not have much time to finish off her main duty.
Time being of the essence and the gem already being out in the open she knew that this would be her only true chance. Close enough she thought as she stepped silently out of the shadows, knowing full well that any who could sense her would now know that her presence was fully in the area and that even with the darkness of the temple she could now be seen in full form though because of her dark clothes she was not just a running target. She ran up right beside the no longer standing statue and reached out her paws to retrieve the gem, grasping onto it tightly and feeling the power of it surge through her body. Without another second of hesitation she moved into the shadows once more, knowing that it would only shield her so much and that from what she now carried she would be a walking target. Quickly she makes her way through her planned escape route, out of the temple through the shadows, hoping that everyone was still distracted enough by the beasts to let her pass without much trouble.

Andre faced the shadow of the son of death and stared intently into the unseen face through the one edifice he could peer out of. An ominous sigh issued from the mask, and a burp of flame erupted at the same time. The fire slowly began to die down and form into the appearance of a velvet black and red cloak draped around his shoulders. His body underneath was charcoal black and undistinguishable, just like the embers of any fire. Orange and black dreadlocks could now be seen hanging limp from the back of the mask, just like the quills of an echidna yet longer and thicker.
The greatsword that he had previously hefted disappeared. It would have been far too slow to heft against a creature as agile as this one. Andre may have been a creature of the void, but he was not a stupid one when it came to combat. He had seen his own share.
Andre extended his four inch long bladed nails and flexed them. He would do his service, then do as he wished afterwards. Business first, pleasure last. "I am familiar with the Lord of Death and his son. Who do you think sent me to the void in the first place, living darkness? I am not afraid to confront such creatures a second time!" His eyehole lit aflame once more, obviously not happy with his term sentenced to the void. There would be Hell to pay, almost literally.

Meanwhile Stealth was slowly circling the beast getting ready for the killing low as he motioned for his 'dance' partner to hit the creature from the opisiate side. He hoped that Kuri got the idea for at that moment the beast let out an impatient growl. And then lunged forward the speed surprised the fox he baely had enough time to drop to his knees and roll forward getting under the creature as it lept through the air, pepering its underside and neck with shots. Luckily as it howled in pain it also sailed above him and landed behind him falling to the ground in a rough landing. He wondered how many more shots did Kuri and he had to throw at that thing to kill it.

Kuri pulled her dart back toward herself, already running to the other side of the beast. At Stealth's attack, the dhole threw again, this time striking the vulnerable creature where a heart would reside...had it been human.
The shadow beast howled in pain, pulling on the rope that protruded from its body. Kuri was pulled forward before she was granted the foresight to let go, thus stopping herself from moving too close to it. It didn't really matter anyway. She had already lost her main weapon. Cinnamon-coloured paws reached inside her jacket again, ready to remove her claws.

You're on your own for the moment Shade, I need to pull my broken hand out of a hell beast and I'm too drained from phasing into this realm. Retreat if necessary but avoid what ever just woke up in the temple. You're surrounded, and I don't want to see you destroyed. Stall for time until we can get there. The deathog struggled to rise to his feet. No blood or magic flowed from his wound, though it would be a pain to remove his weapon and hand from the beasts maw.
Shade meanwhile held his ground, circling Andre as they sized each other up. He had no memories of this particular hell spawn but his Master had sealed so many back into the Pit over the centuries remembering all but the ones that left a scar or were particularly troublesome was an exercise in futility.
He had to keep talking, to buy some time for the 'heroes' to get their asses back here before what ever was inside the temple came out with what ever very nasty magical item they had just procured and made a very messy scorch mark of him on the ground as they were leaving.
"Fresh out of the Fires Below and you're already making a fuss. And you wonder why we seal you bozos back into The Depths. Come and get your due vile one!"
The living shadow made a dash and slide, one foot going for the creatures leg, the curved blade of the sctyhe going forward like half moon spear at the monsters midsection.

The monster stood his ground and simpy lifted up his foot and stamped down as the dark one approached, attempting to pin the leg to the ground. At the same time he crisscrossed his bladed hands in front of him to intercept the crescent scythe from striking his torso. Andre made no attempt at a retaliation, though it seemed unlikely the creature would play defense for long. He held in gridlock to apparently make some more time for discussion.
"Sticks and stones, shadow. Though my anger is somewhat justifyable, and I do intend to put my matters with the Thanatos family to rest, it will not be today that I slay you or your master. I'm not even quite sure if that is possible, as I am not omniscient. You are a neutral party as of now, unless you interfere further with Syntaru's minion I will ignore you to the best of my temper's ability." If masks could grin, this mouthless one seemed to be. "It is not a long temper, either." He lifted his foot from Shade's leg although he was fairly sure the shadow could have slipped away at any time he wanted from under him. He was a shadow, after all.

(OOC - AHHHHHH! I should have never took that nap today T_T Now look at all I have catch up on)
Luminous wasn't far behind everyone, following their footsteps to where everything was. Darkness infront of him, light about, he shirked off his cloak, his white fur blazing in the sunlight as he ran towards the creatures in hopeful respute.
Sliding to a stop, he listened. They were quiet. Incredibly quiet. This wasn't going to be an easy battle. He could feel them circling around him as he held up his fists, concentrating on the light in his body. They had to have some type of noise, some thing that clued him of to how and from where they will attack him.
Then he heard it. THe silent leap off the ground from behind followed by a snarl. Flipping forward, he used his feet to erect a wall of light behind him, causing the creature to hit it before turning and punching through it, all his power causing the monster to fly back into the adjacent trees.
That's what signaled him off to the others. Difficult battle, indeed. HE soon found himself flipping and dodging blows, landing hits whenever possible, but these creatures were rather quick, and even though his source was constant, he could feel himself expending more energy than he was absorbing. I must find a way to fight these creatures in my predicament. How are they able to coordinate so well?
Then an idea hit him. They were creatures of darkness, so if they were hit with a blast of light......"Stealth, get everyone to cover their eyes!" Just as he said this, he jumped back, avoiding another attack and began to accelerate his absorbsion of light. It wasn't going to be an overstock, he could never let that travesty happen again, but maybe if he could blind them as much as he was, he could stand a chance. Letting loose the light in his body, the entire field became filled with light, blinding any who were stupid enough to be caught in its rays.

Post by Shae the Bat on Mar 14, 2006 23:12:13 GMT -5
During these heated conflicts one would wonder where the Goddess, the gatherer of these heroic warriors, had disappeared to. Why would she simply abandon these combatants? The answer;
"I am sorry my children, but I had to leave, I need to be certain that you are all ready for the battles to come.. all I can do now is watch, and be hopeful." thought the Goddess, who had backtracked into the Chaos Realm. She was playing the role of observer, testing the strengths of these, the first warriors.
Shae, in the meantime, was helping the felled Deathog search for his arm and scythe.[/i]
"You, spectre.. I believe I've found the remainder of our unfortuneate enemy..." quipped the bat, pointing by a tree.

Psychosis left Shae and the skeletal hedgehog to their own, he'd found something else to occupy his strengths, not only the powerful force that had just arrived, but the general.. the root cause for all of this. He'd decided to go with his first instinct, that the Shadow Beasts were all diversion, as well the new arrival, who seemed to share the same signature as the beasts.
He sent out his avatar, which was a transparent blue image of himself, to steal the Lemur general's attention. But his attempt failed, his avatar faded upon coming within a few feet of her, she was protected by some unseen force. He decided to intervene on his own.. he dashed infront of the Lemur.. much to her surprise.
"I know why you are here, I know who you follow, and I cannot in good ideals let you complete your task.. I'm afraid you will not make it out of here with that SoulGem.. Tala.."
He readied himself in a fighting stance, though he didn't plan to actually strike the Lemur, merely throw her off guard to make best of his Psionic abilities.
(OOC: Thanks for the correction Tonix, I didn't even notice..)

Syth kicked the creature, angry that he'd gotten so weak so quickly. Using his good arm he pried his weapon from the beasts pinned maw, a foul ickor oozed from the wounds the piercing blade had made. Using the butt end of the staff as a brace the deathog pried open the monsters jaws to see his skeletal hand glasping the creatures greenish black tongue. He smiled, in a self satisfied sort of way. It was good to see the Death Touch still worked to an extent on ethreal creatures, even if it was slow and delayed in acting, thus was the price one paid to dwell diminished with the living.
"Bloody creature almost had me, I must be slipping in my old age. Forgive my lack of patience with your Goddess, but I should think that if she was so bloody intrested in us helping her she'd be around to assist with the clean up.
As much as I like proving my strength for a cause I'm a firm believer that mortal peril is a poor test to inflict on creatures that perish rather easily compared to their opposition. Perhaps I am just bitter, but this strikes me as cruel and unusual to pull strings so. At least in the Zone Between Zones we give the souls a chance to prove their worth before shuffling them off. . .
Prying the last finger off the shredded monsters tongue Syth said a few minor words of power, they sounded like a mixture of dying breath and the sound of a well placed deathblow. The bat's sensative hearing made him shudder to hear such unearthly tones. But the minor magic did the trick, and the deathog flexed his bone limbs and appendages freely once more. A snap of fingers and his gloves with cloak returned, albeit slowly fading in as if they fought for their existance in the real world.
"Well, I'd say this has been a bloody good diversion, lets see what the dark ones wanted to steal while our backs were turned?"
Meanwhile; Shade had to wince in pain, if shadows felt pain and this one certainly did, as the heavy boot desended on his leg. He had no bones to break but it was stress on maintain his form which had a similar effect on the magical construct. But his plan to slide tackle the hellion was not some random plot.
After the blade of his dark scythe was blocked he slide the butt end of the staff into on of the cracks in the temple's stoney floor. This wedge kept the still standing Andre a degree off ballence. Shades other leg shot out and up at the chin of the creature, with no ligaments or groin muscles to pull the action was quite possible.
But it didn't get him very far, now he was right back where he started. No damage inflicted on his opponet and his was quickly drained in such strenous combat. Panting out of reflex for being weakend not for lack of breath Shade started to consider his options, the out loook was bleak indeed.

Shae looked beyond, watching the Fox, Dhole and Echidna battle their beast. Also gazed upon the Templar confronting a Lemur, finally noticed that the Wolverine was nowhere in sight.. and spied Syth's shadow battling a blazing entity.
"Well.. this place certainly went to The Void.." Quipped the bat. "And of the Goddess, I am sure she has good reason for her actions, it is her way to be so mysterious and enigmatic."
Shae shook his head a moment.
"I appreciate what you've done, but in the process it seems I'm missing out out on a quite a battle.. do you care to help th-" Said Shae, being cut off in mid-sentance, a Shadow Wraith had swooped in and sent him off hilt, tumbling to the ground.
"That.. is going to leave a mark.."
He regained his footing and darted after the Wraith.. charging up dual energy orbs as he ran alongside the low-flying demon. He teleported far ahead of it and waited for his moment. When the Wraith drew close enough, he leapt upward..
"Oooomeegaaaa.... FLAAAAAAAAASH!!" screamed the Bat, releasing the two stored energy orbs into a single concentrated blast that vaporised the Falcon like creature, sending a rather large shockwave through the field he'd entered, felling a few trees just off the Temple grounds as well.
Meanwhile on the other side of the planet, dusk had settled. Dr. Eggman, accompanied by several guard bots, met with the Vampire in the Hangar;
"You know, I recall that Vampires.. need to be invited inside places of the living, while the core of my body may yet be robotic, there are still human particles in my being.. so how, did you manage to gain entry prior to my allowing you here?" asked the rather confused Doctor.

Without so much as a warning, Andre reached out and plucked the 'dying' shadow with a surprising amount of speed; at least for how large he was. The writhing thing was grasped within his piercing clutch, as if almost gasping for air that he didn't need. The blades of his hand cut deep into it's body. It had seemed that Andre's temper had worn short. Andre leaned into a sharp turn; focusing most of his weight into the hand that held Shade. With more effort than deemed neccesary did the shadow walker hurl the shadow far out unto the skies above to become a speck in the grounded participant's point of view.
The behemoth did not stop there. Andre bent down to pick up some of the carbon debris that lay scattered about, and held it on the palm of his outstretched hand against the heat of the sun. It immediately burst into flame, becoming a raging black fireball of immense hotness. The temple composure beneath the ball began to slowly melt! He let back his arm in a similar gesture as the first one, and catapulted the ball of flame rocketing into the sky directly at the point where Shade had disappeared from view. Whether anyone could tell that was pure luck or just skill was anyone's guess.
Within the minute a slight gust of turbulence pushed the leaves and branches of the forest trees back in a temporary heat wave, indicating that something high in the atmosphere did indeed go bang. Andre quickly set off into a fast sprint that would lead directly to where Tala had been confronted by the Templar. It was easy enough to locate a creature of a place he had been locked inside for so long.
[[ OoC: Psy, Tala already took the Gem. She's trying to leave with it now. Edit: Got permission from Syth to kill off Shade. ]]
