The colossi trudged on through the temple, and unlike most of the other contenders in this race to catch'em all, Andre had no problem. How could he? He was a near seven foot tall creature of darkness! Arrows deflected off of his cloak, flames simply warmed him, and metal objects were broken into pieces by a simple swipe of his claw. It was not long before he reached the desired object, another SoulGem of Syntaru's. The demon sighed, and touched the stone.
With expected unwarning, Andre was whisked away back to The Prophet's makeshift throne room.

Tala stood up and walked from the throne room, the smile gone from her face, despite having retrieved yet another shard for her Lord she had failed him by not destroying the two warriors of light that had come to call on her at the temple. She was angry at herself for being so silly, of course Syntaru would not want the enemy to live and really, they did not deserve to live after all that they had done... so blind in their beliefs towards that false idol Aurora. She walks quickly through the halls and arrives at her chamber far too quickly for her own liking at the moment, but not having anywhere else to go until Syntaru called for her again she enterred into the dark crypt, shutting the door tightly behind her.
She stood in the middle of the room, closing her eyes and breathing in deeply, her chest neither rising nor falling with the slow practiced breaths taken in by breathing withthe diaphragm instead of just using the lungs. By doing this she calmed herself and became centerred once more, realizing that while she did wrong in letting the warriors live she was not the only one who had settled for less in that respect. It suprised her that the bat had let those that had attacked him live, especially after all the show he made in regards to his changing of sides. Why had he shown compassion for those others? Did he have his own reasons as well? Syntaru seemed to grudgingly accept whatever it was that stayed the chiroptera's paw.
The bat aside, strange things had been coming up within her own body that was unlike her - showing emotion and leaving the peaceful quiet of her normal work to speak with one so unworthy as the fox. Not to mention the ability to teleport herself with a mere concentration of ki energy - it was a new ability that was obviously part of the gift bestowed upon her - but if she gained that ability without knowing what else did she have laying dormant within her? It was a curious question and she was shocked enough by it to open her eyes and stare blankly into the darkness of her room. With ease she wanders to her pool of water, the lichens within creating a soft eerie green light in which she was able to see her reflection, in her eyes the flash of red that she had seen once before now was flecked throughout her yellow eyes. She peered deeper into the water to ensure that it was not just the lichen playing tricks on her, but her sight was not failing her, there was indeed a sharp red throughout her entire eye. A smirk came to her face and she backed away slowly, heading to her little sleeping hole and climbing inside... she was indeed Syntaru's chosen Shadow Queen - she knew it deep in her heart when his energy flowed into her worthless body, but now she was beginning to take on a likeness of him. She bowed her head in thanks and slowly let herself drift into a meditation to pass the time and to search her mind, body and soul for the lessons learnt in the day.
___
If a blush could be noticed through black fur then CC would have easily been caught by the surge of blood to her cheeks for being a hopeless sap of a romantic, but thankfully only her mind and emotions inside would betray that simple fact. Instead, on the outside, her smile just widened and she squeezed his paw lightly. She thanked the Goddess somewhere in the back of her mind for allowing her a chance to actually spend some more time with the hedgehog, and not just fighting some impossible foe either. "It is indeed beautiful" she purred softly, looking at him coyly, "And I must admit that I certainly could not ask for better company."
She looks around the forest, breaking eye contact for a moment and she takes a deep breath in, sighing gently as the smell of fresh flowers and the remnants of rain hit her nose as well as the particular musk of Amon by her side... upon sensing this smell her heart flutters and she grins. Birds chirp all around the pair and the feline's ears twitch as they catch the sound of movement not too far away. When she opens her eyes again she realizes that she has stopped to enjoy everything around her and she grins sheepishly, "Chaos is everywhere, but sometimes there is great beauty in the chaos itself. It is merely learning to accept it and go along with it that we are able to truly appreciate it. Such as me stopping her to enjoy the medly of smells and sounds... to which I find myself having to admit another thing... that I am truly intoxicated by your very presence..."

The sands were still warm.
Even on this side of the planet, where the days and nights were fairly even, Shifting Sands Zone principal naming factor were warm to the touch. An odd occurance, if you were familar with the deserts effects on climate and surroundings. Lacking anything similar to a lower atmosphere, all the days heat strikes the earth directly, leaving a sweltering wasteland in it's wake. And when night finally does arrive, those burning temperatures fade to the opposite side of the themometer. It's not uncommon for gauge to drop almost to freezing in those quiet nights were nothing moves save the shifting grains and the creepy crawlies that brave the harsh environs for their nightly meals.
Such a creature was stiring, and it was leaving the sand warm in it's wake. Lucian had finally come to his homeland, or rather this version of his homeland. And already the indiginous people were reliving nightmares their great great grand fathers and mothers had to toil through. The legends of a man, an overlander with green eyes like the cactus blossom, blonde hair like the sands, and teeth as red as a cobra's hood stalked their homeland in search of living prey. The poor nomads hardly had a chance against the undeadite, and ten strong men fell to the demon's fangs before a resistance with a great deal of torches could be summoned up to banish the moving darkness back into it's less hostile cousin.
Oh the ten, six were immediately found, and beheaded. Stories still told to children to keep them inline often spoke of their fallen kinsmen rising again and fighting back in a bloodthirsty rage even the most aggressive warrior had not known in life. A certain disregaurd for morals, ethics, and mortality that can't be obtained with a beating heart or a breathing lung. The remaining four were scowered for through out the nomad village. Age old totems of protection, ensorcelled to ward away the walking dead were errected in the hour. It would seem that in spite the many years the preditor had remained dormant the villagers were not to keen to totally lay down their guard.
The village elders gathered immediately, and their discussion was sort. They must've tread on the monster's home turf by accident. The shifting sands making it hard for even the most knowledged scout to know exactly where they were. The desert winds and sun erroding the marking stones faster than the traveling folk could relearn their shape. Such an error to them setting up their summer homestead on Lucian's Front doorstep.
Their loss.
With the remaining four giving up as dead, or worse they resolved to pack up and walk all the next day until the first man fell from exaustion, and so it would go until the great lake of the ocean was in their sights once more. A good healthy distance had protected their ancestors from the subterannian terror that stalked the dunes and they hoped, nay prayed a similar defense would be equally effective. For the time, they were right, the vampire was busy looking after his new foot soliders and re-establishing his head quarters than harrowing some desert people through Sandopolis.
High above a crag not far from the village's eye a menacing howl split the night sky, and the people hurried and scurried to hasten their efforts in running away. The nomads were a proud people, free of Ivo, Syntaru, Aurora, or Legion. They owed their lives to themselves and no other. They would stand in 1000 to 1 odds but they would run from Lucian Ostrum, the widower, sunblighter, kinslayer, and monster.
Confident that his work in removing the trespassers from his "front lawn", the vampire lept down a crevice and stood over his four prizes. The neat pair's of holes on each man's neck a sure sign of his death and future servitude to the vampire's whims. Double checking to ensure the soon to be rising sun would not vanquish his new additions, the vampire swirled his cloak and vanished down a small nook that bent sharply down at sand level. The darkness welcomed him back, like an old friend and compatriot, around sharp corners and seemingly impassible rocky pathways the vampire finally came to his throne room. Or what was left of it. What he saw did not amuse him.

Amon looked into Ci Ci's eyes and smiled. Taking her hands in his, stopping in their pace. He stared into the emerald pools that glinted in the peeking sunlight. A tinge of red filled the fleshtone cheeks of the black and cerulean hedgehog. His chilled blue eyes shining in a way they had never done before. The moment was perfect.
There in the rainsoaked forest, with droplets falling from the leaves, the grass and other plants. While flickies chirped their song and the other little animals stepping out from their shelter. Here in the shining example of purity and beauty, the hedgehog Amon and the feline Ci Ci shared a lovers embrace. A sweet blissful moment between two souls, creating a harmony.
But, it was during this moment of happiness, of love, Amon was stricken with a horrifying vision. Though the physical world remained the same, what he saw through his eyes was different. Horribley different, a vision of fire, the smell of sulpher, a vision of sadness of loss.. a vision of his death... Amon's body began to tremble in fear, a bone chilling terror..
In this vision he witnessed his own demise.. he saw the Demon Syntaru in his final form rising from the flame. While trying to save his love, Amon fell, dying instantly in the blistering flame of the Hot Crater Zone. He broke away from Ci Ci and ran off deep into the forest, nary a word spoken. No explanation given. He just ran..

Aurora stared at Paladin as he wnet on in great detail over the recent downfalls. He was right on every chord, and Aurora knew this. But she had her plans ready and set, and with hope in her eyes she would carry them out.
"Paladin, it would seem that we have much work to do in a very short ammount of time.. but I have absolute faith in my warriors, Twilight, gather the other Vanguards and meet me in the Grand Hall.. there is something I wish to discuss with all of you.." said Aurora, leaving the garden and heading back inside.
(EDIT FOR TONIX)
Syntaru looked at the giant, Andre, a gleam coming over his eyes. Yet another SoulGem was now in his possesion. His power would grow immensely, and if his Apostles continued to do such excellent work, his ascendancy would be assured. He was however a little irked that nearly ALL of his Apostles let their victims escape alive or severely wounded..
"Hrmph, allthough I now have more than half of my power restored, I am still deeply angered with you all.. I can forgive these actions of mercy this time, but I do not favor them.. these pitiful creatures are our enemies and must be dealt with in the harshest of manners.. you are dismissed for now Andre, soon I will call upon you again to complete you final tasks.."

The feline had felt so comfortable in the arms of Amon and the moment that they had shared felt right in so many ways, so when the hedgehog while still holding her began to shudder and a look of horror washed over his face the feline was more than just confused. Then, without a word he took off at a break neck speed run into the forest, leaving the cat behild, bewilderred and in shock. In her life though she had learnt to recover from shocks quickly and while this possibly topped the list she was not going to just stand around looking dumb. With a keen eye she takes off in the direction he ran in, following his path with a carefuly eye, she was not the best of trackers but he was also not taking the time to cover his path and in the usually dense growth of the forest she saw the broken branches and tread upon leaves with ease. As she followed, steadily gaining upon him as she used her energy to bolster her speed, a series of questions filterred through her head, the most important of which was why would he run off without saying anything and why had he looked so horrified?
Options sped through her mind almost as fast as she blurred past the trees and confused forest animals... the first fear was that he had found something wrong with her, but that did not strike as true in her mind so she put that thought away. Another was that he had seen some glimpse of a future that he did not like, he was a psionic and things like that happened - but she did not know enough on the subject to be sure that was how it worked so she filed that under possible reasons. Perhaps he had received a mental message from Aurora saying that he had to save some mobian or village from absolute destruction or some terrible deed and it shocked him so much that he forgot to tell the feline... she growled in frustration. Each situation she came up with only added more questions to her already curious mind and she vowed that when she found him that she would sit him down and explain to him that perhaps this was not the best way to interact with a lover. She was angry, frustrated and even a bit scared... and that made her even more upset but the thought of sitting Amon down like a little child spread a tinge of amusement to the frenzied feline's mind.
She settled the thoughts enough to call out to him with her mind, leaving her voice as any hunter knew that they should not make noise when followingprey, especially ones as seemingly unstable as the hedgehog, though she hated to think of him as prey, -Amon... if you can hear me then please stop... tell me what is going on. Please!"- CC repeated this simple phrase over and over in her mind, hoping that perhaps she would her his voice inside him mind even for a moment - if not then she would follow him as long as possible - she was not one to give up easily.

Stealth sat there in the a dark corner of the medical facility. A grim shadowed look covered his muzzle. The lemurs words echoed in his mind. She was right...he was weak....he fell so easily...it took her no sweat to defeat him so utterly. She had shown him just how much he could do agisnt the darkness. He was weak..insiginifcatn. He was the weakest of the warriors. The chamber ment nothing all it did was give him a flase confidence booste and a fancy weapon. He was truly weak...useless.... "Curse the gods..." Stealth snarled slamming his bandaged fist into the wall.
Legion sighed looking bored as he steped away to the left then right then left four times the back to the right then ducking as he sent a nice solid fist into the hedgehogs stomach as he tried in vain to cut off his head. dogign the hedgehogs pathectic blows . Simon hosnestly was growing weary. He had no time for such a weak will fool when thunder lept forward to tdo his final attack with the shock waves. it never happend the wolf went in and quickly grabed his wrist on the hedgehogs sword arms ingoring and even asorbing any kind of eletrical counter attack from the hedgehog as he turned the blade into himself pointing the tip of his every blad agisnt his stomach and then with a dark laugh he thrusted it in making thunder skewer him self pinning him hard and secure agisnt a tree as the blade sunk through his mortal form and agisnt the tree impaling him but missing vital organs...but those organs would be dammaged if he tried to free himself. then with that the wolf left the hedgehog for the vultures as he walked slowly to the temples sealed off entrance letting his robotic eye scann it.
"You know an intrsting fact about magic...is that its eseentaly eneryg, in that like Kenetic or plasma or even lazers it hase wave lengths and power forms.. so in such....with the right counter singal Ican..with a simple ward spell...disable it outphase it as you will.. watch." He said as he began to type into his gauntlet grinning as he kept an eye on the scanns and remodulated a shot from his gauntlets. He then smiled as he took a step back and pointed his palm and a purple bolt of lighting shot out, the energy wrapped around the ward and simple covered it as it faded away. With that the wolf walked into the temple.

Thunder winced as his own blade was stuck inside of him and through the tree at the same time. He struggled to keep himself in focus, but it wasn't easy seeing himself impaled. However, he was not going to let impalement stop him from fighting. Summoning as much energy as he could, he shot a constant wave of lightning bolts into the temple towards Legion.
'I...must...keep fighting...' Thunder repeated in his mind. 'Can't...let...Syntaru...win...'
Thunder couldn't believe it. After all of his training, after all of the battles, even after training in Chaos Realm, he was still losing...it was like everything he did didn't matter at all...maybe Stealth was right...maybe he was just a weakling...if he couldn't even beat this guy...what good was he?

Shade continued to stalk Kuri, drawing ever closer to that grand hall containing the carbon statue. He need only for the naive Dhole to touch the statue's base, be overwhelmed by its dark energy, and then he could snatch the Gem right from under their noses. It would mean having to escape rather than subdue the enemies, but it would mean that the Lord Syntaru had claimed yet another piece of his SoulGem and would become that much more powerful. And this was Shade's cause now, to ensure the ascending of the Prophet.
Meanwhile in the Chaos Realm (OOC: <- Remember that Spyn, Chaos Realm, not Void. Jackass.), Aurora had pulled the limp and dulcid hedgehog Thunder through a light door, having some spirits shuffle him off to the infirmary to be tended to medically. It would seem that now almost all the warriors had failed, and the darkness would go stronger. Mobius was indeed in for a veritable armageddon..

Paladin bowed low to the goddess and took his leave, Lady Aurora's word superceded any practice work with his staff. Summoning a spirit to his side he kindly asked it to take him to Naia, one of the two vanguard's he was unfamilar with. So behind on the times after his ascension he didn't even know what aspect of Aurora's will the pantheress represented. Tightening his bandages and leaping from a garden balcony, the freshly rained upon Chaos Realm sparkled below the once unfeeling deathog. Still a stoic sort and certainly and an all business kind of soul, Vanguard Twilight glided toward the waterfall where the orb of light was pointing him. Making a mental jibe about cats around water, the Judicator soared in a short distance away from the Blonde Haired Panther. It was always wise to give catgirls their space, and never the impression that you're sneaking up on them.
It could lead to . . .unplesantness.
Meanwhile; Lucian was staring at a rather relaxed mirror image of himself. After each vampire took an apprasing moment to vainly recall how damn good looking they were they locked stares. The new undead sad languidly in the strangely translucent black throne that made up the seat of Lucian's Power back in his days of mass murder and domination. With out warning, thousands of tenticles shot out from behind the throne, black twisted strands of tainted soul encompassing the newly arrived Lucian.
After a few uncomfortable moments they receeded and the sitting Lucian sat up straighter. Bushing the vilolated feeling from his coat arms and pant legs the vampire you all know lamented, "I HATE it when they do that!" Much to his surprise, the other Luican responded, though his voice seemed far away.
"Greetings and Salutations, if my trap has left who eve has entered MY throne room in tact or better yet unharmed than you are worthy of my place of power. If you're a stain on the ground, well, BWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH! LOSER!" "Damn, I am one evil bastard. I'm mocking the hypothetical bastard AFTER they've died." "The Ebony Throne is yours, worthy advesary, darkness knows I won't need it where I'm going. Already the Hunters are at my door and not even loyal Crucio can save me. And to think, after betraying Jocco of all necromancers I thought I would invicible . . . .oh well. I suppose I must be wrong at least once a millenia. . " "I beat the Jackal at his own game in my Prime Incarnation, SWEET! And now it's mine, ALL MINE!"
And in creepy stereo both mad undead's cackled to their undead hearts content. The sitting Lucian fading away into the image of a skeleton staked to his throne and the standing one smiling all the wider as he swatted his Prime Incarnations skull away, the remainder falling into dust that hardly marred the obsidian material that slowly rested down upon it.
Taking a seat amongst the bones of his own image, Lucian Ostrum sighed a contented sound. He was finally home.

Amidst the rushing waters of the fall, Naia sensed the presence of Twilight behind her. In a show of power, or arrogance, she did a magnificant backflip through the air. Landing perfectly, her laced white robes flowing back to level around her slender form. She had her blade drawn and resting along the neckline of the hedgehog whom she'd only heard of and never met.
"So tell me, what was it like.. being kicked around like a child's toy by the betrayer? Did the newbie bite off more than he could chew? Hehehe.." said Naia, pulling the blade away from Twilight's neck. "I jest, hedgehog, I know you gave your best effort.. tell me, what business have you come here on?"

Paladin Twlight didn't flinch when the blade had been brandished and so close to his neck. Be that a testament of his trust to fellow vanguards, his knowledge that he could withstand such a blow, or the fact that he didn't react fast enough was hard to tell. Ignoring the mistake of species, common place considering his kind were rarely heard of anymore the vanguard remembered his business in seeking Naia out. Keeping his face as straight as possible, he recanted for her as follows.
"The Traitor certainly gave me a lesson in humility, I hold no false pretenses when it comes to the gap in power now. . . .but I am better prepared this time and when I meet the Bat again the result will be most different. As for the business at hand. Our lady requests the presence of all Vanguards to the Grand Hall...please make haste there whilst I gather the remaining individuals."
After making a short bow of leaving, Paladin lept once more, rebounding off the rock face near the waterfall, making sure to come close to the panthers head the deathog soared further down where the light was leading. Archer was next and it seemed he favored the Atrium today. Touching down near the glass dome, Twilight entered and hailed the Eagle the deathog prepared for what ever surprises this too unfamilar vanguard had in store for the newbie.
Meanwhile;
With the moon still high a shadow crept from a crevice. Sliding over rocks, through cracks, and around pillars of stone the living darkness oozed through the landscape. On this warm summers night six scouts sat around a fire complaining about having to continue to monitor the mountain passes even though Lord Legion had long since conquered past them.
"Damn it man, I know we signed up to be on the winning side and all. But I wanted to see a little action in this war before Bloodclaw crushes the resistance!"
"You chose poorly."
"You guys hear something? Anyway, screw that! I wanted to stay alive, and if working for the monster keeps me that way I'm willing to make that sacrafice."
"Don't worry, you will."
"Proll just the wind man, these passes have alot of weird sounding gusts and stuff. Nothing big though, and all the locals are harmless."
"Hee hee hee."
"What do you think Tony? Tony? Hey, where'd Tony go? And Simmons. They were here just a moment ago."
The four look at one another, all is silent and the fire continues to crackle on. A moment of disturbing silence passes.
"Well, Tony probably went to have a bite to eat. . ."
"Hee hee hee."
". . . and Simmons, inspite of being a hard core chick is probably off peeing in the bushes or something. Not like we haven't seen her in less before."
A series of chuckles go around the camp fire, but an air of fear still hangs. A guard on the left feels a drop of liquid strike his cheek.
"Aw man, is it going to rain again?!? I thought this was a damn desert!"
But his three companions are now staring at him with the priceless looks of abstract horror. On the stone overhang they were using to guard from the elements a large black shape held the slightly mangled shape of something that was wearing Tony's uniform. Drop after now useless drop of blood rained down on the complaining scouts head. A scream split the sky as he realized what he was showering in. And the rest shouted when the corpse was dropped into the came fire below.
Cinders, sparks, and smoke choke and blind the four as the undead preditor begins to hack and slash it's way through their ranks. The thin scouting uniforms no match for shadow enhanced claws. Admitst the battle two of the survivors bore witness to a true horror as their third was lifted from the ground. A clothy tear sounded the removal of the high colar of his shirt, and the sickening crunch of fanged jaws on neck. Feet futilely kicking in the air as they slowed to a stop. The blood needed to move them suffiecently drained away.
"Now, with half of you drained well I think I can actually move around normally again. You know, that girl was the only one smart enough to lock herself in the land rover over there. She's not worth the effort of tearing through the hull, but you two are quite defenseless. Do me a favor, scream real loud so she can hear you. I'd hate to leave her out of the fun."
Back in the armored car 'Simmons' cowered beneath the seat. Telling herself again and again that she didn't just see a red eyed overlander appear from no where. That the screams of pain and death were not her traveling companions. That the blood on the windshield from Tony wasn't real. That the quaint three knocks on the door were from the monster that had just devoured her friends.
"Hello hello?" Lucian cooed through blood soaked fangs. "Little girl, are you home? I have some good news, and some bad news. First the good news, you get to live! Yes, you're going to walk away from this encounter with your life entact to that tasty frame of yours, be greatful. Back in my day we just animated the corpses to send messages to our foes. Now for the bad news, this desert is my home and Simon is invited to the housewarming! You are to go to his HQ and tell him that personally, and him alone. After you do so, you will take your own life in front of him. If you do not kill yourself, I will come for you. And there aren't enough nightmares in creation that can contend with what I will do to you if I must hunt you down. Do not disapoint me, for I am your God now."
A fluttering of his cloaked marked the leaving of Lucian. Petrified, Simmons cried herself to sleep untill the sun finally rose a few hours later. Creeping slowly outside she took in the carnage of the vampires gourging last night. Throwing up twice before she could pluck the keys from body with no head, she jumped back into the car and sped back toward the base.

Naia scoffed as the white clad hedgehog flew off, buzzing over her, she couldn't help but smirk at his demeanor. She then made her way from the falls and to the Marble Palace, where she would wait for the Goddess to arrive. Inside the Atrium, Archer was tending to the plants and the trees. Pruning them to accentuate their high points, Archer spent most of his time here.. being Guardian of the Forests, the Eagle could best fulfill his duties from here. He heard a soft clunk in the dirt outside. Investigating the tall and stern looking Eagle discovered Twilight.
"Ah, greetings heir Paladin, what brings you to the atrium on such a day as this? I had thought you would be out in the fields staying the growing threat of Syntaru, unless, ah it must be true.. Orion proved more powerful than you anticipated.. no worries on that front dear boy, I too underestimated the bat.. I trust you are here with an important message?"
